Help offered for St. Charles County Businesses
Local employers can find out about new incentive packages and other help for their businesses at two special information sessions planned later this month.
“If you’re an employer, these sessions will show you ways to save money and grow your business,” says Lori Myers, St. Charles County Workforce & Business Development Director. “And the sessions are free!”
Hosted by the Missouri Job Center of St. Charles County in partnership with the St. Charles County Port Authority, the sessions will show employers how to get help with recruitment, workforce development and business growth. Among the programs to be explained will be the Missouri Advanced Industrial Manufacturing (AIM) Zone.
“Many employers are leaving money on the table by not participating in the AIM Zone incentive package,” says County Director of Community Development Michael Hurlbert, who represents the County Port Authority. “This is a state program that lets the local Port Authority capture 50% of the employee withholding tax which usually goes to the state for each new job created. Instead, it can be used to help local businesses for site improvements, expansions, utility relocations—all sorts of things.”
Employers will also learn how the Missouri Job Center can help businesses find, hire and train employees through programs such as On-the-Job Training and paid work experience opportunities. These programs offset training costs while giving employers talent that meets their specific needs.
Two sessions are available for employers to attend:
- 12-1 p.m., Tuesday, June 9
- 8:30-9:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 24
Both sessions are free to attend, but registration is required by emailing lmyers@sccmo.org.
