Shooting Near England World Cup Base in US Injures Nine

(MENAFN) Nine people were injured in a shooting close to the hotel and training facilities expected to be used by the England national football team ahead of the World Cup in Kansas City, Missouri, according to reports.

Police responded at around 4 a.m. local time on Saturday after receiving alerts about gunfire in the area. When officers arrived, they found a large crowd dispersing from the scene.

Initial responders provided assistance to three injured women at the location, while six additional adults later went to hospitals on their own. The total number of injured was confirmed at nine, with all injuries described as non-life-threatening.

The incident took place a short distance from the hotel and training base linked to England’s tournament preparations. The team is currently based in Florida and was not present in the area at the time of the shooting.

Authorities have not detained any suspects, and investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing, according to reports.
