Planned Roadwork for Northwest Missouri, Oct. 5-11

St. Joseph, Mo. – The following is a list of general highway maintenance and construction work the Missouri Department of Transportation has planned in the Northwest Missouri region for the week of Oct. 5-11.  

There may be moving operations, such as mowing, brush cutting and litter removal, throughout the region in addition to the work mentioned below. Inclement weather may cause schedule changes in some of the planned work. Check the MoDOT Traveler Information Map at http://traveler.modot.org, or download the app for updated information.

Atchison County

U.S. Route 46 – Resurfacing project from U.S. Route 59 to the Nodaway River through late October. The road will be narrowed to one lane. with an 11-foot width restriction. (Contractor: Herzog Contracting Corp.)

U.S. Route 136 – Resurfacing project from I-29 to U.S. Route 71, east of the Burlington Junction. The road will be narrowed to one lane with an 11-foot width restriction. (Contractor: Herzog Contracting Corp.)

Route N – CLOSED for pavement repair from 290th Street to 300th Street, Oct. 5, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Route N – CLOSED for pavement repair from 220th Street to 230th Street, Oct. 5, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Route AA – CLOSED for pavement repair from O Avenue to Z Avenue, Oct. 5, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Route O – CLOSED for pavement repair from 110th Street to the Iowa state line, Oct. 7, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Route O – CLOSED for pavement repair from 160th Street to 170th Street, Oct. 7, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Buchanan County

U.S. Route 59/Route 752/Route U – CLOSED northbound between Ohio Street and Alabama Street through mid-December. for an ongoing intersection improvement project through September 2027. Interstate 29 – Resurfacing project from Pigeon Creek (mile marker 39.8) to the Platte County line (mile marker 31) through mid-October 2026. (Contractor: Herzog Contracting Corp.)

Caldwell County

Route U – CLOSED at the Tom Creek Bridge, through mid-October 2026, for a replacement project. (Contractor: Decatur Bridge & Iron, LLC). https://www.modot.org/projects/route-u-bridge-replacement-caldwell-county-0

Carroll County

DeKalb County

U.S. Route 36 – Intersection improvement project at Bob F. Griffin Road, through November 2026. U.S. Route 36 will be narrowed to one lane, with an 11-foot width restriction. There are no right turns from northbound Bob Griffin Road to eastbound U.S. Route 36 or from southbound Bob Griffin Road to westbound U.S. Route 36. (Contractor: Clarkson Construction Company).

Grundy County

Route WW – CLOSED daily for resurfacing project from Route 6 to Route W, Oct. 5 - 7. (Contractor: Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc.)

Route W – CLOSED daily for resurfacing project from Route 6 to County Road 500, Oct. 5 - 7. (Contractor: Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc.)

Route JJ – Pothole patching, Oct. 5-9.

U.S. Route 65 – Bridge maintenance at the bridge over Muddy Creek, Oct. 5-7.

Harrison County

I-35 – Resurfacing project from the Iowa state line to Route N near Eagleville through October 2026. An 11-foot width restriction will be in place. (Contractor: Emery Sapp & Sons)

Holt County

I-29 – Concrete replacement northbound at the 91.4 mile marker, Oct. 5-6. The roadway will be narrowed to one lane around the clock.

I-29 – Concrete replacement southbound from the 91.4 mile marker to the 91.0 mile marker, Oct. 7-9. The roadway will be narrowed to one lane around the clock.

I-29 – Concrete replacement northbound at the 95.7 mile marker, Oct. 8-9. The roadway will be narrowed to one lane around the clock.

Linn County

Route B – CLOSED daily for a resurfacing project from U.S. Route 36 in Wheeling (Livingston County) to Route 5 in Linneus, Sept. 24-30. (Contractor: Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc.)

Route 139 – Scrub seal project throughout Linn and Sullivan counties through mid-October 2026. (Contractor: Above and Below Contracting, LLC)

Route V – Scrub seal project from Ivan Road to Route M through mid-October 2026. (Contractor: Above and Below Contracting, LLC)

Route CC – Scrub seal from Route O to Route C through mid-October 2026. (Contractor: Above and Below Contracting, LLC)

U.S. Route 36 – Concrete replacement westbound from Route F to Route 11, Oct. 5-9. The roadway will be narrowed to one lane around the clock.

Livingston County

Route B – CLOSED daily for a resurfacing project from U.S. Route 36 in Wheeling (Livingston County) to Route 5 in Linneus, Sept. 24-30. (Contractor: Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc.)

Mercer County

U.S. Route 136 – Bridge deck replacement project at the Grand River Overflow Bridge in Princeton, through mid-November 2026. The bridge will be narrowed to one lane with temporary traffic signals. U.S. Route 136 – Resurfacing project and culvert improvements from Route C (Mercer County) to Route N near Livonia through October 2026. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place. (Magruder Paving, LLC.)

Nodaway County

U.S. Route 71 – Resurfacing project from the Iowa state line to Route CC north of Maryville through October 2026. The road may be narrowed to one lane, and a 10-foot width restriction will be in place.

U.S. Route 46 – Resurfacing project from U.S. Route 59 to Nodaway River through late October. The road may be narrowed to one lane with an 11-foot width restriction. (Contractor: Herzog Contracting Corp.)

U.S. Route 136 – Resurfacing project from I-29 to Route 71, east of the Burlington Junction. The road will may be narrowed to one lane, with an 11-foot width restriction. (Contractor: Herzog Contracting Corp.)

Route E – Resurfacing project from the Iowa state line to U.S. Route 136 through October 2026. The road may be narrowed to one lane, with a 10-foot width restriction in place. (Contractor: Herzog Contracting Corp.)

Route EE – Resurfacing project from Route NN to U.S. Route 136 through October 2026. The road will be narrowed to one lane, with a 10-foot width restriction in place. (Contractor: Herzog Contracting Corp.)

Route 246 – Ditching from Route E to Olympic Road, Oct. 5-9.

Route YY – CLOSED for pothole patching from 170th east to 170th west, Oct. 9, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Putnam County

Route 5 – Resurfacing project from U.S. Route 136 east of Unionville to Route 6 north of Milan through October 2026.  (Contractor: Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc.).

U.S. Route 136 – Resurfacing project and culvert improvements from Route C (Mercer County) to Route N near Livonia through October 2026. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place. (Magruder Paving, LLC.)

  • Crews will be resurfacing U.S. Route 136 through Unionville on Monday, Oct. 5, and Tuesday, Oct. 6. No parking will be allowed along U.S. Route 136 during daylight hours; all vehicles must be removed.

Sullivan County

Route N – CLOSED at the Yellow Creek Bridge through October 2026 for a bridge replacement project through the Northwest Bridge Bundle. (Capital-Horner & Shifrin) *1

Routes 139, V and O – Scrub seal project throughout Linn and Sullivan counties through October 2026. (Contractor: Above and Below Contracting, LLC)

Route EE – CLOSED for a culvert replacement from Route K to Route KK, Oct. 5-9, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
